It shows a series-production sound system the meaning of powerful sound volume and can even noticeably upgrade subsequently installed car speakers. Because driving sounds are predominantly low-frequency, the sound improvement achieved by supplementing with a subwoofer is noticeably audible.
The new Toxic active subwoofer TXA-400 offers plenty of bass pressure from a handy and stable, yet lightweight, bass enclosure. The powerful 10” (25 cm) woofer is driven to peak levels by a powerful MOS-FET power amplifier with 800 watts (250 watts RMS). A second 10” passive woofer takes over the function of a bass reflex opening, but without bothersome flow noise. Furthermore, the enclosure is pleasantly compact, thanks to the passive radiator.
The wide-range adjustable input sensitivity enables operations with practically every car radio having a pre-amplifier output (otherwise with use of an adapter). An automatic on/off function makes the installation easier, because it is not necessary to lay a remote connection from the car radio. Lay the signal line, connect the power, and the great sound in the car is ready to roll.
An integrated active crossover with a low-pass filter adjustable from 50 to 150 Hz makes it possible to accurately control the amplifier electronics. A switchable bass boost with a maximum boost of 12 dB at 45 Hz adjusts the Toxic TXA-400 to the specific car’s acoustics. A phase switch enables the acoustically correct adjustment to the car speakers without having to reconnect them.
